피치포크 선정 2000년대 최고의 앨범 200선Pitchfork The Top 200 Albums of the 2000s
‘궁극의 리스트’는 각종 미디어, 개인, 단체에 의해 공식적, 혹은 비공식적으로 발표된 음악/관련 문화 리스트를 ‘리드머’의 시선으로 다뤄보는 페이지 입니다. 정답이 없기 때문에 이런 리스트를 보는 것은 언제나 흥미롭거든요. 피치포크(Pitchfork)는 인디 록 앨범들을 중심으로 모든 장르를 가리지 않고 다루는 세계적인 웹 매거진 입니다. ‘장르음악’이 아닌 ‘음악’ 웹진이 되려면 미디어만의 고유한 철학이나 확고한 시선이 있어야 하는데, 피치포크는 좋은 예가 분명합니다.
어쨌든, 피치포크의 ‘피치포크 선정 2000년대 최고의 앨범 200선’을 살펴보면, 약 30작품의 힙합/알앤비 앨범을 확인할 수 있습니다. 록 밴드 중심의 미디어라 보컬 쪽을 홀대했는지, 알앤비는 좀 처참하네요. 물론, 랩/힙합 앨범도 취향이 확 드러나는데, 제이-지(Jay-Z), 칸예 웨스트(Kanye West), 고페킬(G.F.Killah), 클립스(The Clipse) 등에 대한 사랑이 우선 돋보입니다. 중복으로 선정된 아티스트도 많고, 취향이 꽤 드러나는데, 재미난 것은 마이너한 인디 록 밴드를 밝히는 그들이 흑인음악 쪽은 메인스트림 앨범을 거의 선정했다는 것입니다. 메이저앨범이 아니더라도, 정말 유명한 앨범들 위주로 뽑았네요. 그만큼 장르를 깊게 파지 못했다는 이야기고, 좋게 말하면, 미디어의 색이 드러나는 재미난 지점이기도 합니다. 흑인음악 관련 앨범은 따로 표시했지만, 페이지 성격상 앨범 별로 별다른 설명은 하지 않겠습니다. 일단 언급된 앨범은 체크해봅시다.
